The painter was born in Riedlingen, in Swabia Germany. He lived also in Antwerp, where he studied the works of the great flemish painters by whom he was greatly influenced. He settled in Munich where he became court painter. The influence of Anthony van Dijck is unmistakeable present in his oeuvre. Oil on canvas
